Photonik Camp Aachen

A barcamp about Photonics

Posted by René on September 15, 2012

In 2012, I organised the first Photonik-Camp in Aachen. It was a barcamp with sessions about photonics. We recorded some interviews that I want to present on this page:

Karsten Joost

BlickBeat utilizes an eye-tracker for an interactive art installations for teenage skaters.

Andreas Kahler

Andreas talks about the WinkDings workshops

Michael Straeubig

In Michael’s’ workshop, participants discussed game concepts.

Sessions

There were 12 sessions in 3 tracks. Every participant had to give a short talk and needed to participate in 4 sessions.

This video shows some impressions from the sessions.

Contest

There was a contest with prizes on Saturday. The participants presented ideas for photonic projects in three categories. Each winner got 1500 Euros for the implementation of his idea. The winners are:

  • Best Innovation: Felix and Norbert, Dingfabrik Köln: "direct exposure system for PCBs"
  • Price of our hearts: Andreas, FabLab München: "WinkDings - Persitence of Vision"
  • Keep an Eye on: Ingo, teacher from Oldenburg: "Transforming light into things"

You can find more information on the official website and a report on the Photonik Campus page.
